Digambarpur Angikar: An Organization: 45 years of journey with challenges of developing India—

“Angikar” – is a Bengali word which means to have a deep commitment towards certain ideology or goal. Keeping with this commitment, Digambarpur Angikar is formed in the year 1978 with the purpose of rescue and relief operations and then, on 12^th February 1979 it has got registration under West Bengal Society Registration Act. The organisation having its root in the deltaic Sundarbans of West Bengal for over more than four decades now, has been harnessing its pledge towards empowerment of vulnerable people like; ST, SC, Women and Girl Children and sustainable development of marginalized people in both rural and urban slums in West Bengal.

Apart from the empowerment and securing rights, presently the organization is working both South & North 24 Parganas districts and 24 numbers of Municipal Corporations in West Bengal state with the thematic intervention of Child care & child protection, education, health & hygiene, HIV/AIDS,  sustainable livelihoods, food security, SWM and climate change.
