Access to Justice
Digambarpur AngikarDigambarpur Angikar is a partner of the National Level Consortium of NGOs named Just Rights for Children (JRC). It is currently implementing a project named Access to Justice in 200 villages across 7 Coastal Development (CD) Blocks in South 24 Parganas District of West Bengal namely Kultali, Patharpratima, Canning-I, Canning-II Basanti, Gosaba and Sagar. The primary focus of the project is to community sensitization, strengthening child protection mechanism and address action oriented child protection: STOP Child Marriage, Child Sexual Abuse and Child Trafficking. The project is working with building relationships and support of local administration, police, Child Protection Working Committee (CWC) and other stakeholders. Project is showing encouraging impact in the targetted villages.
During 2024-25 we have successfully prevented 338 Child Marriages, rescued 223 victims of Child Trafficking of which 215 are girls and 8 are boys, total FIRs lodged 222, provided support services to 60 victims of POCSO by helping to file interim compensation applications for 42. We have introduced Village Marriage Registers in 104 villages, nearly 29000 people have taken pledges aginast Child Marriage.
