Digambarpur Angikar has been working since more than 16 years consistently to establish gender-just and violence-free communities by mobilising women and girl children to access their rights and entitlements and to develop strategies to end violence against women and girls. We organise women in these communities to become facilitators of social change, enabling them to contribute to genuine long term development in their communities. An initiative has been taken for the formation of Sundarban Jagaran Mahila Sangha where 3,000+ women have been joined to address the violence against women and girls collectively and for better adocacy to secure their rights. This women platform is maintaining the bridge between the service providers and rights holders and also taking the responsibility to continuation of securing basic rights for them and doing strong monitoring to stop different social evils, child marriage, trafficking and providing legal support to the victims.
Generally, women were hardly accessing the land rights in rural communities. Digambarpur Angikar is continues awareness sessions in villages among men and women both on land rights for women. The women forum has been empowered for the advocacy to the government on land rights of women.
